Emma & Company is a home grown business founded in 1998. As our business was launched, a friend suggested that we donate a portion of our proceeds to a charity. The first charity we chose was Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). Our love of dogs and our desire to help people are blended in this organization which places highly trained assistance dogs with people with disabilities other than blindness. To date, we have donated over $50,000 to CCI.
In 2006, we expanded our donation to include another non-profit, and donated $6,000 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. In August of 2006, one of the puppies raised at Emma & Company was placed as a service dog with a 17 year old with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. When seeking a way to help, Jeffrey's mother suggested donating to Duchenne's research.
